Want a change of venue for your next surf adventure? How about laid-back vibes and local country quiet…with a world-class left right out in front that is full pedal-to-the medal?
Situated 30 kilometers from Krui in South Sumatra, the Sumatra Surf Resort gives you just that. Ujung Bocor, the left on your door-step, is the region’s longest and best wave. Capturing and holding any swell, it’s surfable almost every day and shows many faces, from thick barrels to rippable walls. The big playing field spreads out the surfers so there is no sense of crowd. And it’s right there, grab your board and paddle out.
Plenty of other waves in the area too, something for everyone, from learners to experienced professionals. Beach breaks, peaks, lefts and rights. All within easy access from the Surf Resort. Local surf guide with local knowledge will show you the way if you want. As with the rest of the archipelago, the swells are largest and most consistent in the Southern Hemisphere winter of April-November, but there’s tons of surf off –season as well
The Resort’s 14 double-twin share bungalows are locally built and designed with your comfort in mind, from the board racks to the garden bathrooms with hot showers. Mosquito nets and fans and 24-hour security. Check out the surf straight from your verandah. Good nutritious locally-sourced meals at the Warung.
The Resort’s GPS coordinates are “laidback degrees latitude” and “chill-out degrees longitude.” You’re not here to party. You’re here to surf, but when the surfing is done, hang out at the beach deck or the tower, sipping a few cold ones and watching the waves roll-in. If you want to be-stir yourself a little, shoot some pool or watch some satellite TV or get on-line with the free WiFi. Stretch your surf-aching muscles with lessons from the resident Yoga instructor.
At the Sumatra Surf Resort, forget the outside world for awhile…and get inside that barrel out front.
